My reanimation projects: A few scenes of things I done did

Ever since I WITNESSED the masterpiece known as Shrek:Retold (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM70TROZQsI- Produced by 3GI and made by hundreds of talented artists), I knew that re-animated projects were the niche for me. There's something about having a connection to a piece of media (be it a show, a film, a comic, ANYTHING) and remaking it in a way only you can, it's great!

So I joined a few, here are the results:
BARTMAN REANIMATED:
My first exploration into the Reanimated concept was based on this weird 90s Simpsons song called 'Do The Bartman', where Bart orders the opressed citizens of Springfield to dance like their supreme leader. I only got less than a second but I made sure to cram as much as possible in that time. I was especially proud of the weird stickers I drew on the side of the phone box. Here's the project (My scene is around the 4:07 mark, gone in an instant)

OVER THE GARDEN WALL COLLAB:
One of my favourite ones, this project aimed to recreate the entire first episode of the fantastic 'Over the Garden Wall'.  Lucky for me, I was able to get TWO SCENES RIGHT NEXT TO EACHOTHER, both with The Woodsman character.

I experimented with a little bit of Toon-Boom Rigging and spent way too much time on the Background and Lipsync, I still love it!

Find the entire collab here (My scene is at the 4:26 mark, For a Behind the scenes look, Here's:

THE LIGHTHOUSE: FB REMADE EDITION

I found myself circling the fan groups of the Robert Eggers film 'The Lighthouse' (2019) after I was blown away with it's strange atmosphere. Eventually, a few guys in the group wanted to remake the film scene-by-scene. Lots of people went for the funny or memorable scenes ("HAAAAARRRKKKK") However, I knew I wanted to make the one scene which captivated me most...and lucky enough it wasn't taken.

Spoilers for THE LIGHTHOUSE:

I wanted the sobering, dramatic scene where Old gaslights Young into thinking he's completely lost it (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sg_vKZIVyqg). This moment was a real turning point in the film for me and I knew I wanted to animate it. I had learnt a bit about tweening and rigging in Toon Boom from a course at the Bristol based 'Sun and Moon' Studios and, as I was a busy man with a busy schedule, I wanted to animate it quickly and with minimal fuss.

I drew a layout animatic with my sketchy, textured style, drew the elements and put some of them on boils, added a bunch of pegs and deformers and started to move him around. It was a subtle scene so I didn't need to add too much action, however I wanted to put effort into his lip sync, a part of animating which I've struggled with for a while (I can be finicky with the exact mouth shapes, not letting more limited animation speak for itself.) I took my time with it and experimented with methods on moving the mouth and playing with only a few mouth drawings.

I'm no voice actor or Willem Defoe impressionist really, as you could probably tell from the footage. That's a big part of the fun of these collaborative projects, everyone adds their own personal flair.
